Sub-Zero repair, done properly

Sub-Zero refrigerators are built to run for twenty years or more, which is why repairing one almost always beats replacing it. Most Sub-Zero built-ins keep their compressor, condenser and fan in a compartment at the top, behind the grille. That is where we spend much of our time: cleaning condensers, replacing condenser fans and start components, and doing full sealed-system repairs.

Our own job photos show that work: gauges on the service ports, leak repairs brazed in place, and refrigerant recharged to the factory charge. A refrigerant leak on a Sub-Zero is a repair we do in your kitchen, without pulling the unit out of the cabinetry.

Questions people ask

Is my old Sub-Zero worth repairing?

Usually, yes. A Sub-Zero built-in that cools well after a repair can keep running for many more years, and replacing one means new panels, possible cabinetry changes and installation on top of the unit price.

Do you recharge Sub-Zero refrigerant?

Yes. We find and repair the leak first, then evacuate and recharge to the factory charge on the data plate. Topping up a leaking system without repairing it only buys a few weeks.

How often should a Sub-Zero condenser be cleaned?

Sub-Zero recommends cleaning the condenser about every six months. A clogged condenser makes the compressor work harder and is a common cause of warm temperatures.

How much does a service call cost?

The service call is $79. It covers the trip and a full diagnosis. If you go ahead with the repair, the $79 is waived.

Will I know the price before you start?

Yes. After the diagnosis your technician gives you the repair price. Nothing is done until you approve it.
